We Resound

OurSong is supporting the launch of Atlanta’s only inside the perimeter LGBTQ & Ally youth chorus: We Resound

Are you between the ages of 13–21 and passionate about singing, community, and social change? Do you want to use your voice to make a difference? We Resound Youth Chorus is a welcoming space where young people come together through music, collaboration, and advocacy.

New members are welcome anytime during the first season! No auditions are required, and all singers are welcome.

Rehearsals: Sundays 2-4 pm during the academic semester
Ages: 13-21
Location: Georgia Tech campus (Midtown Atlanta)
Closest MARTA stops: Midtown or North Ave.
Cost: Free (materials will be provided)

We Resound will provide LGBTQA and ally youth a safe, affirming, musically rigorous space to sing, build community, and develop their voices—artistically, socially, and civically. Through choral music grounded in justice, care, and joy, We Resound will center queer and trans youth while fostering connection across families, schools, and the broader Atlanta community.

About our Artistic Director

Joshua Palkki (he/him) is Associate Professor of Music at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta where he leads the Chamber Choir and Glee Club and is Founding Artistic Director of We Resound, a new LGBTQA and ally youth chorus in Atlanta. He is the co-author of Honoring Trans and Gender-Expansive Students in Music Education (Oxford University Press, 2021). Palkki holds degrees from Michigan State University (Ph.D. music education; choral conducting cognate), Northern Arizona University (M.M. choral conducting) where he studied under Dr. Edith Copley, and Ball State University (B.S. music education). Joshua has led honor choirs in California, Indiana, Nevada, Kansas, and Alabama and made his Carnegie Hall debut in June 2026 with National Concerts. Prior to his appointment at Georgia Tech, Palkki served on the faculties of Arizona State University and California State University, Long Beach. At ASU he led the Barrett Choir and guided students in music education pedagogy, choral pedagogy, music teacher education, and choral conducting. At CSULB, Dr. Palkki taught courses in music education, interfaced with the College of Education, and led the University Choir—an ensemble that was selected to perform at the 2019 California Choral Directors Association (CCDA) State Conference.
