Dr. Robert GlorOurSong Artistic Director (he/him/his)

The role of an Artistic Director is much more than rehearsals and conducting. He spends months creating concert themes, listening to other performances, carefully selecting songs and imagining the delivery of meaningful concert experiences for the chorus and our audiences. He also looks for additional opportunities to help grow the talent of OurSong and ways to share that talent and our message in the community and abroad. Robert has spent his life devoted to the art of making music.

Prior to working with OurSong, among his many accomplishments are his work as the Artistic Director of the Atlanta Feminist Women’s Chorus, developing choral programs for MCC churches, along with serving as the coordinator of K-12 Choral Music for the DeKalb County School District and the Choral Director and Fine Arts Chairperson at Chamblee High School. A native of Missouri, Robert received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Missouri State University and a Master’s Degree in Voice Performance from Webster University. In 2007, he received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Music Education from Shenandoah University in Winchester, Virginia. Robert is an active member of several choral music associations.

Cheryl HunterOurSong Accompanist (she/her/hers)

All it takes to understand how true raw musical talent can transport you from the mundane into pure euphoria is an opportunity to hear Cheryl Hunter “tickle the ivories”. There is no doubt the extent to which she expresses her heart through her performances. Cheryl also has an uncanny ability for being in sync with our directors, both in rehearsal and performance. She often goes above and beyond in helping OurSong express itself.

Prior to her work with OurSong, Cheryl served as Principal Accompanist of the AFWC; Assistant Director of the AFWC; and Director of the AFWC ensemble, Prima Voce. Cheryl also served as the Assistant Director and Principal Accompanist for the Melodivas and served as Music Director and Pianist for St. Luke’s United Methodist Church of Burlington, North Carolina. Cheryl has been playing for choral groups, churches, musical theater and various other groups for over four decades.

Brittney Jaynes-DeanOurSong Assistant Music Director (she/her)

In addition to helping OurSong hone in on the correct notes and chords during rehearsals, Brittney also sings with us and helps design our dance moves (aka, ”choralography”).

A former member of the Atlanta Opera Chorus, Brittney has been teaching and directing choral music for 15 years and has worked in various schools and churches. Brittney recently became a certified music therapist (MT-BC) in March 2023 and acquired the designation of Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT). Brittney currently teaches middle school chorus in Cobb County, gives private lessons, and accompanies for various gigs in the Atlanta area.

Susan LoefflerPresident

Susan Loeffler is currently retired after serving for 29 years in DeKalb County Fire Rescue and DeKalb County Emergency Management, located in the metro-Atlanta area. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management and a master’s degree in Emergency Management from Bellevue University. After nearly three decades as a professional tasked with expert planning, communication, management, and coordination during times of small- and large-scale emergencies and disasters, Susan continues to serve public and private organizations by promoting emergency preparedness and response. Ever the public servant, she is organized and motivated to offer education and guidance regarding emergency preparedness within her community. A Georgia native, Susan has now retired to the Tampa Bay area of Florida and can be found golfing, biking, boating, and actively contributing to her community through volunteerism.

Richard has been with OurSong since 2013 as a singing member and currently serves on its board of directors. He is proud to be associated with such an incredible organization.

Richard has composed more than 100 pieces of sacred music in his 25+ years as a full time church musician and has been able to share his composing/arranging skills with OurSong on several occasions.

Jon joined the Board in November 2012. Jon has—flat—out—FABULOUS legs. We just CANNOT say enough about that. Besides being OurSong’s favorite man-eye-candy—a very versatile tenor he, Jon does fundraising campaigns and all of the bookkeeping for OurSong and does a truly outstanding job.

Chris DurbetakiSecretary

Chris is one of the founding members of OurSong joining the chorus in 2002. Music has always been a part of her life. Though she played flute and piccolo in the high school band, she didn’t start singing in a chorus until she was adult. Her love of music can be summed up by the words of Sara Teasdale in the poem, “Refuge”.

From my spirit’s gray defeat,
From my pulse’s flagging beat,
From my hopes that turned to sand
Sifting through my close-clenched hand,
From my own fault’s slavery,
If I can sing, I still am free.

For with my singing I can make
A refuge for my spirit’s sake,
A house of shining words, to be
My fragile immortality.

She proudly sings Soprano and serves on the OurSong Board of Directors as Secretary. OurSong is a refuge for her spirit.

Mark EtheredgeDirector (he/him)

Mark started singing with OurSong in January 2010 and first joined the Board as a member-at-large in April 2011 and served as Board Vice President in 2012-2013 and subsequently as Board President. His interest in choral music began while attending Georgia Tech, where he enjoyed singing with the Georgia Tech Chorale and also helped its growth as President and as a founding member of the Centennial Singers.

Mark has enjoyed singing with other groups in the Atlanta area, including the Colson Chorale, the Atlanta Choral Guild, the Atlanta Gay Men’s Chorus and its ensemble group Panache, and at Northside Methodist and Grace Methodist churches. He is happy to have found a new home with OurSong.

Matilda FentonDirector (she/her)

Matilda has been with OurSong Atlanta since Fall 2024 as a singing member and proud Alto. She currently serves on the Board of Directors as a Member-at-Large. She enjoys being able to give back to the organization both as a board member and multi-committee member and is grateful for the wonderful community she has found here.

Matilda’s love for music began with playing piano at age 5 and continued with school and community choirs, songwriting, and musical theatre. This led to her career as a licensed and board-certified music therapist. She earned her undergraduate degree from Berklee College of Music in Professional Music with concentrations in Composition and Vocal Performance. Matilda earned a second bachelor’s degree and her master’s degree in Music Therapy from Georgia College and State University, where she was also a member of the Beta Rho chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity. Some of her favorite performance experiences have been a video game music choir, jazz a cappella ensemble, and pop/rock cover groups playing guitar and ukulele. Matilda is a multi-instrumentalist whose favorite chord progression is V – V/vi – vi.

Matilda’s love of music and understanding of the capacity music has to affect our lives can be best summed up by words written by Ronald Blythe and set to music in “I Have Had Singing” by Steven Sametz: “I have had pleasure enough; / I have had singing”.
